Festival Glossary

Terms you’ll hear throughout the weekend, from a greeting in the dining hall to a title before a trainer’s name.

Bangapsumnida
반갑습니다

“Glad to meet you” — the warm Korean greeting you'll hear constantly around campus, from the dining hall to the trailhead.

Kamsahmnida
감사합니다

“Thank you” in formal Korean — the everyday phrase of gratitude exchanged between participants and trainers all weekend.

Hwansaeng
환생 · rebirth

To be reborn. Several sessions use this theme — letting go of old patterns and stepping into a renewed version of yourself.

Gwangmyung
광명 · bright light

A Korean word for brilliant, illuminated light — used to describe a prosperous life and an awakened, illuminated future.

Gongsaeng
공생 · coexistence

Living well together — mutual benefit between people, and between people and the Earth. A core value behind this year's community-building sessions.

Gongsaeng Cho
coexistence pledge

A shared moment of declaring the coexistence philosophy together as a community — often part of an opening or closing gathering.

Seuseungnim
스승님 · teacher

A respectful Korean term for a treasured teacher or mentor — used broadly for anyone whose guidance you deeply value.

Daesunsa nim
great master

The most senior instructor title in the Body & Brain training path, held by trainers with the highest level of certification and experience.

Sunsa nim
master instructor

A certified master-level instructor title you'll see attached to many trainer names in the program — the level above Dahnsa nim.

Dahnsa nim
energy instructor

A certified Body & Brain instructor title, marking a dedicated teacher of Qigong and energy practice.
